3D Printer FAQs

What are the unique features of the SD300 Pro?

The SD300 Pro offers a unique low cost of ownership program. It is easy to use and very reliable. The physical properties of the parts produced by the SD300 Pro are strong and durable with outstanding surface quality. In addition, flexibility (living hinges) can be achieved in required areas. The SD300 Pro material kits are available in several colors including amber transparent.

What is the operating concept of the SD300 Pro Printer?

The printer is very straight forward, easy to use and requires minimal maintenance. The build concept is based on Layered Object Manufacturing (LOM). The SD300 Pro utilizes plastic sheets that are laminated in layers and the build process proceeds. Each layer is cut using an XY plotter knife according to the model geometry at the specific Z height being built. Once a layer is cut, the printer applies an Anti-Glue masking liquid on areas surrounding the model contour. The Anti-Glue enables the user to remove the excess material surrounding the part at the end of the build process.

Can the engineered plastic used to produce parts in the SD300 Pro be recycled?

Yes, the engineered plastic used to produce parts in the SD300 Pro can be recycled. Please visit the recycling section for further details.

What is the build accuracy of the SD300 Pro?

The build accuracy is +/- 0.1mm (XY axis tolerance), 0.168mm (Z axis resolution).

Is the SD300 Pro safe to use in an open office area?

The SD300 Pro is an office friendly desktop printer. It does not require a closed room and it can be positioned at any user’s workstation.  The hardware, including all materials, are in compliance with CE and FCC (class A).

Is the SD300 Pro “Plug n’ Play” ready for any STL file?

Out of the box installation takes about 30 minutes. You may immediately start printing after following the Start-Up / Installation procedure.

What industries benefit from the SD300 Pro? For what applications?

As of today, the SD300 Pro has been used successfully in many markets. Our users are mechanical engineers, product engineers, automotive engineers, R&D Companies, military and defense research engineers, biomedical engineers and educators. The SD300 Pro creates functional and presentable models. The applications that best utilize the SD300 Pro are form and fit assembly testing, concept modeling, ergonomic studies, proof of concept, and rapid manufacturing.

Is the printer networkable?

The printer requires a dedicated computer and is not net-workable. However, the computer, if it is networked, can share the printer; the only requirement is that the computer linked to the printer is turned ON.

What is the build speed of the printer?

The build speed of the printer depends fully on model size and complexity. Roughly, the build speed is 3/8” to 1/2” per hour (about 10mm).
